I agree with everyone else - at first the multiple narrators are kind of jarring, but you grow to love them all. I also really loved the intermittent history bits, by the end they weave together and you’re going “WOOOOAH” like a classroom of small children. Even Val, who is painted as a monster since the beginning is one of those characters that I know to be a villain from the start, but who I desperately want the best for. She finds her courage and her independence and I was truly rooting for her by the end.

We start with our MC being naive, but she has heart and she is kind. This is one of the those rare occasions where the main character is not my favorite in the beginning, but she grows and I actually end up liking her by the end (normally I hate them the whole time, or I’m obsessed with them the whole time).
